I bought a cheap dual-screen Philips DVD player (mainly for use in the car for family car trips) on Black Friday, 2010, at a certain archery-themed big-box retailer. Worked fine (nothing special) until the DC car charger stopped working. Bought this item through Amazon, and it arrived as described and worked as well as the original equipment--which is to say, not that well. After playing a single movie, it also stopped working. Brother-in-law with a background in electrical engineering took a look at it, unscrewed the top of the adapter and popped out the fuse. Although the fuse was not visibly blown, we both guessed that it was. He said the fuse was rated at 3 amps, which is just barely above the power requirements for the DVD player. I went to a certain radio-and-shack-themed electronics store and purchased a couple of 4 amp replacement fuses for about $4 and the adapter has worked ever since.
So, buy this if you must replace the DC adapter on your Philips portable DVD player--it's the same as the one it came with--but you might first want to try buying some 4 amp fuses to replace the built-in 3 amp fuse.
The build quality is pretty flimsy on these, but they do the job. It's kind of goofy that to run the both DVD players, you need a single dual DC adapter. (The AC adapter only has one plug, so you can't use a power inverter and the AC adapter if you want to use both screens.)
Amazon affiliate did a good job of getting it to me quickly. No complaints there.

Worked perfectly fine for my car dvd player. Make sure to tape the wires finely so that kids don't mes it up again.
